Michael Patten is a filmmaker and freelance video editor based in Brooklyn.

His short films have screened at prestigious international festivals, including Rotterdam, Slamdance, and the Rooftop Screening Series. His short documentary We Call Him Super was acquired by The New Yorker. Patten’s work often displays a compassionate curiosity toward “the outcast,” exploring political themes and dark humor to reflect on society and culture at large.

Currently, Patten is in post-production on his debut feature-length film, The Woman Who Could Read the Minds of Dogs.

In his career as a video editor, Patten specializes in commercial and branded content. He began in the art-house distribution world, cutting trailers for small theatrical releases, and has since edited a range of corporate, branded, and television advertisements for clients such as the BBC, MLB, Avon, and Thinx. Recently, he has worked extensively for Nickelodeon, editing promos for high-profile shows like SpongeBob SquarePants, Star Trek: Prodigy, and Henry Danger: The Movie. His extended trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles won a Promax Gold Award.
